Maybe You Do

Maybe you do

We used to look for that perfect pizza slice
We used to trade jokes about our future lives
We used to be close, they say that feeling ends,
We used to talk for hours now when I text I hesitate before it sends

They say nothing lasts forever and I know that’s true,
But I always thought it would be different for me and you,
I see you some nights in my dreams but that’s where it dies,
I am tired of waiting for answers to what’s and why’s,

This is a story I know everyone has lived,
They all say we forget but we never forgive,
It’s just at some moments when I do something mundane,
I think of what we had and it drives me insane

Do you still think back to the stupid jokes?
Cos when I do I can’t breathe I just choke,
I look to everyone around me with their great little lives,
I know I’m no textbook picture-perfect wife

But somewhere sometimes I remember us two,
Maybe you don’t, and maybe you do

Wow, Meetali. Very well worded. Exactly how we feel about a relationship that didn’t work out. The memories are always there. We may forgive but we don’t forget. Awesome!

Sometimes, it is just memories that remain and we smile through them. The last few lines felt like I was looking at the mirror of the social media where everything is perfect and yet nothing is 🙂

Poetry is too good. Very well pen down the expression we used to go with it. Memory always there and yes I laugh on some stupidity and admire what I go through and heal. Yes every thing is temporary.

a lovely piece Meetali, full of small little moments n things that matter a lot… it feels straight from the heart…

What a sweet poem. Almost every marriage goes through these ups and downs. Life takes over and we forget to be nice to each other. Everyone could should read this one.

  6. Shail Thosani says:

Your words remind me of my relation. We love and care for each other a lot but over the years I miss the small things. We used to go out for night walks, night bike ride to have an ice cream or dessert. Now it seems its just memories.
